| torsatron | medical dictionary |
<radiobiology> A modification of the stellarator concept, the torsatron has a toroidal non-axisymmetric configuration, and rotational transform is provided by external coils. Unlike a stellarator, however, both toroidal and poloidal fields are generated by helical fields alone, with half the number of helical conductors required for a stellarator.
