1. The measure of the depth of something, as opposed to its length or width.
Breslow's thickness, maximal thickness of a primary cutaneous melanoma measured in tissue sections from the top of the epidermal granular layer, or from the ulcer base (if the tumour is ulcerated), to the bottom of the tumour; metastatic rates correlate closely with tumour thickness.
