<anatomy, muscle> This is one of two muscles located on the front of the neckwhich serve to turn the head from side to side.
Origin, sternum and clavicle; insertion, mastoid process; action, bends the head to the same side, rotates the head, raises the chin to the opposite side, together bend head forward and elevate chin.
