Peptide hormone of gastrointestinal tract (27 residues) found in the mucosal cells of duodenum. Stimulates pancreatic, pepsin and bile secretion, inhibits gastric acid secretion. Considerable homology with gastric inhibitory peptide, vasoactive intestinal peptide and glucagon.
