<symptom>
A symptom characterised by severe neurological pain radiating from the lower back into the buttock and into the lower leg along its posterior or lateral aspect and most commonly caused by impingement of a nerve root due to prolapse of an intervertebral disk.
The pain is usually in the distribution of the sciatic nerve.
