<system> An attribute of any system that consistently produces the same results, preferably meeting or exceeding its specifications. The term may be qualified, e.g software reliability, reliable communication.
Reliability is one component of RAS.

<statistics> This is an indication of the consistency of a test measuring the same particular factor over time. It can be used to determine the consistency of a measure, instrument, or observer.
An assessment tool has a high reliability if it yields similar results when given to the same sample of subjects at two different times, and be different assessors.
Reliability may be expressed as:
1. The relationship between test items intended to measure the same skill or knowledge (item reliability).
2. The relationship between two administrations of the same test to the same student or students (retest reliability).
3. The degree of agreement between two or more assessors (assessor reliability).
An unreliable assessment cannot be valid.
