(stem cell transplant, blood cell transplant): The transplantion of parent cells which may give rise to progeny (daughter cells) which erve more specialised functions. Transplants may be from the peripheral blood or bone marrow. The patient himself/herself may be the donor (autologous transplant), a (genetically) compatible relative or individual (allogeneic transplant).
