A collection of more or less closely aggregated lymphoid nodules on the posterior wall and roof of the nasopharynx, the hypertrophy of which constitutes the morbid condition called adenoids.
Synonyms: tonsilla pharyngealis, tonsilla adenoidea, Luschka's gland, Luschka's tonsil, third tonsil.
