A generalised skeletal dysplasia with prominent forehead and small mandible; radiographically, there are irregular ribbon-like constrictions of the ribs and tubular bones; probably autosomal dominant inheritance. There are arguably two forms, autosomal recessive and X-linked.
Synonyms: Melnick-Needles syndrome.
