<clinical sign>

<biochemistry> The lack of oxygen supply to the tissues of the body below the normal level. This may be despite adequate perfusion of the tissue by blood. Can be due to insufficient oxygen in the atmosphere (such as up a mountain), low cardiac output, anaemia, blockage to the perfusion of tissues or inability for oxygen to bind to haemoglobin.
