An infection caused by a fungus with hyaline (colourless) mycelium in tissue, e.g., species of Fusarium, Penicillium, and Scopulariopsis; circumstances for infections usually involve a decrease in body resistance due to surgery, indwelling catheters, steroid therapy, or immunosuppressive drugs or cytotoxins.
