A trace element with the atomic symbol cu, atomic number 29, and atomic weight 63. It is essential in nutrition, being a component of various proteins, including ceruloplasmin, erythrocuprein, cytochrome C oxidase, tyrosinase, etc. Deficiency, which is rare, may result in hypochromic microcytic anaemia, neutropenia, and bone changes.
