A semisynthetic ergot alkaloid that is a dopamine d2 agonist. It suppresses prolactin secretion and is used to treat amenorrhoea, galactorrhoea, and female infertility, and has been proposed for Parkinson's disease.
Pharmacological action: antiparkinson agents, dopamine agonists, hormone antagonists.
