<technology> Conceived initially by Ericsson, Bluetooth is a standard for a small, cheap radio chip to be plugged into computers, printers, mobile phones or any mobile electronic device.

A Bluetooth chip is designed to replace cables by taking the information normally carried by the cable, and transmitting it at a special frequency to a receiver Bluetooth device, which will then give the information received to the computer.

This should make the use of peripatetic computing easier for institutions to manage as it does not suffer from cable and connector problems of wired solutions nor the line of sight problems associated with infrared.
