A cerebral arteriopathy of unknown aetiology, characterised by noninflammatory intimal hyperplasia of medium-sized vessels associated with diffuse cutaneous livedo reticularis.

A syndrome of livedo reticularis and cerebrovascular lesions involving all the extremities and the trunk, worsening in cold weather and during the acute phase of neurological complications. Chronic ischaemia of the extremities is present in all cases. Adventitial fibrosis, thrombosis, and changes in the media are the principal pathological changes in the digital arteries. Neurological manifestations consist of stroke, transient ischaemic attacks, epileptic seizures, and dementia.
