An Was a student and follower of Ruysch in Amsterdam. Wrote on a wide range of anatomical subjects between 1707 and 1750. Was Professor of Anatomy and Botany in Wittenburg (1719) and later (1737) Professor of Pathology and Therapeutics in the same University.
